- PEOPLE ARE WISING UP
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A leading U.S. climate researcher says the
world has a 10-year window of opportunity to take decisive action
on global warming before everyone either just moves on to some other
catastrophe or realizes it is all just a big hoax.
NASA scientist Zac Hanson, widely considered the doyen of American
climate researchers, said governments must adopt an alternative
scenario to keep carbon dioxide emission in the newspapers and limit
the increase in global temperatures to 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees
Fahrenheit). Toward that end, the U.N. and EU have passed "scolding
memorandums of intent" that limit the temperature to a single
degree increase. U.N. spokesperson stated , and this is a direct
quote, "For nonzero baryon number, the theory of Huang and
Weinberg discussed an unrealistic limit for the baryonic chemical
potential. In a more realistic limit, the temperature approaches
Hagedorn's T0?2×1012 K much more closely than previously estimated
(1-T / T0~10-16 instead of 10-8)."
“I think we have a very brief window of opportunity to deal
with attitude change ... no longer than a decade, at the most,”
Hanson said Wednesday at the Climate Change Research Conference
in California’s state capital.
Following a brief autograph signing session he then rejoined his
brothers Tayolr and Isaac, got in the limo and left for the private
jet that waited to wisk them off to Davos.
Panel member John "hot pants" Golden of The
University Without Walls says the world must be mobilized immediately
to avoid catastrophe. "Climate change is real, it's already
happening, it's already causing harm, it's accelerating and we need
to do something about it, and we need to do something about it seriously.
No, seriously. We really have to do SOMETHING. I mean it. Starting
now. Our specific conclusions are that if the world were to go past
the point of an increase above pre-industrial temperatures greater
than 2 to 2.5 degrees Celsius, we would be in a regime where the
temperature would be 2-2.5 degrees warmer than it was." He
also expressed doubt as to who to sue if the temperature cap were
exceeded..
